Domestic spaces
Domestic spaces ,
Is a project I started working on in 2022. As an artist my focus in my work is identity, memory and time. In Domestic Spaces, I turn the lens within my domestic space and make images as moments happen. I do minimal staging so that it is me fully engaged with the moment that I am wanting to capture. As a mother, I have learned to really appreciate and cherish each moment. Whether it is a night out on the back patio while my husband prepares dinner or celebrating the fourth of July, I am always embracing the moment. In the mostly digital era that we live in now, I have the capability to be able to capture those moments in an instant, and can put a physical image to a memory or a moment in time that is meaningful to me. Unlike my parents and even grandparents, I will have an entire body of work dedicated to capturing our lives as it happened, un-staged and minimally posed. Practicing in this way is a way for me to creatively express myself to the fullest because I have no directions or guidelines to follow. This is an ongoing series that I will continue building on until I feel that it is complete.
